HÀ NỘI Wonderful rhythms and lyrics will be featured at the annual Acecook Happiness Concert which will be held in Hà Nội and HCM City next month.

The sixth event will see performances by artists of the Việt Nam National Symphony Orchestra under the baton of famous Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji.

They will be joined by violist Bùi Công Duy who has been with the show for years and singers Hồ Trung Dũng and Phạm Khánh Ngọc who will make their debut.

Duy is the most well-known violist in Việt Nam while rising star Dũng has received HTV Awards as the best singer of the year for two years in a row and opera singer Ngọc has won second prize at an ASEAN contest.

Artists will perform works such as Spring in Buenos Aires and Moonlight Serenade and cover movie songs such as A Whole New World (Aladdin), All I Ask of You (The Phantom of the Opera) and My Heart Will Go on (Titanic).

The first show will be on January 10 in HCM City and the second one a week later in Hà Nội.

“I often sing pop songs and have already performed with the HCM City Symphony Orchestra. I also love to sing movie songs, jazz and opera,” said Dũng at a press briefing.

“I love the interaction between different types of music and am excited to perform at the Happiness Concert,” he said.

A ‘conducting corner’ arranged at the concerts will give the audience a chance to try to be a conductor.

The Happiness Concert made its first appearance in 2016 with a view to bring classical and opera closer to people who also can enjoy melodies of familiar songs.

In the past five years, apart from indoor shows, organisers also held performances outdoors at beautiful corners in Hà Nội, HCM City and Hội An.

In the past, all profits from the shows went to charity and supported community culture and performance activities around the country.

In its sixth edition, organisers will use proceeds to support a project entitled Happiness Music. Any person or group can apply their ideas about music to the organisers. If approved, they will receive VNĐ200 million (US$9,700) to carry out their programmes.

Entries can be sent to the facebook fanpage Acecook Vì Cộng Đồng.

Kajiwara Junichi, general director of Acecook Việt Nam Company, said he was happy and proud of the concert which sees huge changes this year but still carries great values to community.

He said these changes not only focus on the young generation but also support people’s dreams with music.

Tickets are now on sale at the Hà Nội Opera House and HCM City Opera House. People can also buy tickets from the fanpage. VNS
