HCM CITY — Young artists from HCM City have launched a free workshop to teach painting to children from two rural districts.

The project, Workshop Ta Ve (We Paint Workshop), will offer free painting lessons every weekend at coffee shops in Tan Phu and Tan Binh districts.

The workshop includes short-term courses in watercolour and sketching for children aged four to 15.

The courses, designed to take place outside, are taught by young artists, students and members from fine arts schools and art clubs.

Painting tools and materials, food and drinks will be offered for free.

“Young artists from the HCM City University of Fine Arts have joined our project in an attempt to help rural children learn the art,” said a representative of the project’s managing board.

“We believe painting plays a role to develop the human spirit and body, and children cannot grow without art,” she added.

The project will begin this weekend and end this year. It will expand to rural districts such as Cu Chi, Can Gio and Hoc Mon.
