The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Supreme Patriarch Council of Viet Nam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Executive Council of VBS, thousands of nuns, monks and Buddhist followers, and local authorities.
The Most Venerable Thich Tri Quang, deputy head of the Supreme Patriarch Council of VBS, on behalf of the Most Venerable Thich Pho Tue, supreme patriarch of VBS, said that Buddhists should continue to find peace and happiness within themselves, and contribute to the country’s prosperity.
Buddhist followers and members of VBS were called on to take responsibility to improve the organisation, especially as the country modernises.
The Most Venerable Thich Thien Nhon, deputy head of the Executive Council of VNS, added that VBS members should achieve goals that have been listed in Term VII and draft practical plans for Term VIII.
