DA NANG — Around 50 fliers from clubs nationwide and overseas will be competing in the Da Nang paragliding race and related activities at Son Tra peninsula on June 20-30.

The city’s paragliding club chairman, Duong Hien Hoang told Viet Nam News the race is open to all competitors.

He said the race will officially open on June 24th as an event to promote the city’s annual Summer Rendezvous at the beaches of Son Tra peninsula.

As scheduled, pilots will take off from a point on Son Tra Mountain, at 571m above sea level, and land on Tho Quang Beach after flying a distance of 2.5km.

Participants will compete in the men’s and women’s individual and team events.

Hoang said the club’s paragliders will offer a Fun Flying event for tourists during the 10-day event at a cost of VND1.3 million per person (US$57.5).

Competitors can register to enter the race by sending an email to clbhangkhongdn@gmail.com before June 15th.

Paragliding is a recreational and competitive sport that took off in the country 10 years ago.
