HA NOI — Vietnamese Ngo Dung won the men’s professional 42km category, with a time of 2hr 42min at HCM City’s International Marathon, Taiwan Excellence, yesterday.
Pha Le took the women’s title, winning in 3:8.00.
Phuc Cao claimed the top podium in the men’s 21km, while it was Phuong Nguyen winning the women’s pool.
In amateur events, Japanese Kimura Mitsunobu won in the men’s class, while Kenyan Naum Jepkosgei topped the women’s discipline.
Organisers also presented awards to winners of the men’s and women’s 5km and 10km races.
The fifth marathon saw the largest ever number of participants with more than 8,000, a sharp increase compared to the first race in 2013, which lured 5,000 runners.
The tournament has been recognised as one of official events of the Viet Nam Athletics Federation. — VNS
