HA NOI — The Viet Nam Master tennis tournament, Vietravel Cup, will be held from December 18 to 23 in Vinh City, Nghe An Province.
The competition will see eight athletes competing in each of the men’s and women’s singles categories and six men’s and five women’s pairs taking part in the doubles. The participating players stand highest in the national ranking table but the tournament will miss top-ranked Nguyen Hoang Nam, who did not register.
On the men’s side, Trinh Linh Giang, Hoang Thanh Trung and Nguyen Dac Tien are the title favourites.
They are Alize Kim Chi Lim and Tiffany Linh Nguyen on the women’s side. Lim was the winner of the VTF Pro Tour 4 two months ago and Tiffany Linh Nguyen is the defending champion of this tournament.
Athletes will be divided in groups, competing in a round robin format. The two best from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
A prize purse of VND350 million (US$15,000) will be delivered to the winners and other well-placed players.
Matches will be aired live on The thao TV and The Thao Tin tuc HD channels and apps such as VTVcab ON and OnMe. — VNS
