HA NOI — V.League 1 defending champions Quang Nam defeated Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) 4-2 in a penalty shootout in the third-place match at the annual Binh Duong Television International Football Cup (BTV Cup) on Sunday.
The match, held in the southern province of Binh Duong ended in a 1-1 draw in official time.
Both sides used many young players in this match to hone their skills. Quang Nam’s Nguyen Duc Cuong and Huynh Tan Sinh played, while HAGL gave game time to young talents Dinh Thanh Binh and Nguyen Van Hanh.
The mountainous football team HAGL opened the scoring in the second half through Korean Kim Jin-seo, however, Quang Nam’s Van Ha levelled the score in injury time. — VNS
