HA NOI — Goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung sits atop Viet Nam’s list of people with the most followers on Facebook despite not playing a single minute in the recent ASEAN Football Federation Championship.
The goalie was the starter at the Asian U23 Championship but was sidelined in the AFF Cup during Viet Nam’s brilliant victory.
A year after being a relative unknown, Dung now has 3,005,158 followers on Facebook and more than 749,000 on Instagram, much more than A-list Vietnamese celebrities like singers Ho Ngoc Ha and Son Tung M-TP.
Google recently released a report showing that the 21-year-old keeper was one of the most searched individuals in 2018 in Viet Nam.
Two other players on the list were midfielders Nguyen Quang Hai and Nguyen Thanh Chung. — VNS
