HA NOI — Thai Son Nam crushed Sai Gon FC 5-0 in the first leg’s fifth round of the National HDBank Futsal Tournament on May 24.
The match was held at Tien Son Sports Arena in Da Nang city.
Both the teams needed three points to advance to the next round. As Thai Son Nam pressed with high speed to seek early goals, Sai Gon FC focused on stopping the attacks of their rival.
In the 19th minute, Thai Son Nam broke the deadlock with a shot by Xuan Du in the left wing to score the opener.
Thai Son Nam continued to dominate the game after the break.
Taking full advantage of the errors in Sai Gon FC’s defence line, Quang Toan doubled the score for Thai Son Nam to 2-0.
Sai Gon FC fought back strongly to narrow the gap, but Thai Son Nam scored three more goals.
With this win, Thai Son Nam are second in the rankings with 10 points, three points less than the top team, Hai Phuong Nam-Gia Dinh University. The two teams will play each other in the final of the first leg on May 27.
Earlier, Sanatech Sanest Khanh Hoa easily defeated Hoang Thu Da Nang 11-2, making it the match with the most goals in this year’s event. — VNS
