HA NOI — Defending champions Thai Son Nam won the first leg of the National Futsal Tournament at Military Zone 7 Stadium in HCM City on Saturday.
Thai Son Nam beat Sanest Tourist Khanh Hoa 4-1 in the ninth-round match of the event’s first leg, to top the rankings with 22 points.
Demonstrating their domination with their skills and experience, Thai Son Nam took the lead in the 16th minute of the match when Quang Hai of Khanh Hoa shot the ball resulting in a self-goal for his team.
In the 19th minute, Nguyen Minh Tri doubled the score for Thai Son Nam.
In the second half, Quoc Tam and Tran Thai Huy scored two more goals to help the defending champions widen the gap to 4-0.
Le Hong Quy reduced the lead to 4-1 for Khanh Hoa in the last minute.
In the other matches, Hoang Thu Da Nang lost to Hai Phuong Nam Phu Nhuan 0-2, Tan Hiep Hung beat Cao Bang 3-1, Sai Gon FC tied 2-2 with Sanatech Khanh Hoa and Thai Son Bac lost to Sanna Khanh Hoa 2-4 to finish ninth in the rankings.
The tournament will temporarily stop for some seven weeks for the Viet Nam U20 futsal team to prepare for the final round of the Asian futsal championships, to be held between May 16 and May 26 in Thailand.
After that, the second leg will resume on June 10. — VNS
