HA NOI — V. League 1 side HCM City will have to do without midfielder Vu Ngoc Thinh for the rest of this season, the club announced yesterday.
Thinh was injured during HCM City’s 3-1 win over Nam Dinh on Sunday.
The 25-year-old went down after a tackle in the 62th minute and was forced to leave the game held at Thien Truong Stadium.
According to doctors, Thinh tore knee ligaments and will be out at least eight months to recover.
“I am very sad as I can’t contribute any more to the team. Now I have to stop competing,” said Thinh, who was last capped for the national side in 2016.
The northern port city of Hai Phong-born player Thinh scored the only goal to help HCM beat Dong Thap 1-0 in the qualifying round of National Cup on April 9. — VNS
