Việt Nam officials picked for SEA Games football tournament

HÀ NỘI — The Asian Football Confederation has assigned six Vietnamese officials to work at the upcoming 31st SEA Games in Việt Nam.

They are two referees, three referee assistants and one supervisor who will officiate in both men’s and women’s football events.

In the men’s tournament, elite FIFA referee Ngô Duy Lân and FIFA referee assistant Nguyễn Trung Hậu will work in Group B, which gathers Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore and Laos.

Meanwhile referee Lê Thị Ly and assistants Hà Thị Phượng and Nguyễn Thị Hằng Nga will manage matches between the women players.

Việt Nam is the third ASEAN country that has football officials working in the 31st SEA Games.

Other referees come from India, South Korea, Oman, Jordan, Syria, Kuwait, Maldives, Sri Lanka, UAE, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Japan and Australia.

In other football news, coach Shin Tae Yong has made his final list of 20 for the Indonesia team.

The South Korean coach puts his trust in talented players such as right winger Egy Maulana, defenders Elkan Baggott and Asnawi Mangkualam, left winger Saddil Ramdani and striker Witan Sulaeman.

The three overage players are midfielder Marc Klok, attacking midfield Ricky Kambuaya and centre back Fachruddin Aryanto.

Indonesia will land in Việt Nam on May 3.

They will play the opening match against the hosts Việt Nam on May 6.

Other teams in Group A are Myanmar, the Philippines and East Timor.

Myanmar were the first team arriving in Việt Nam on May 1.

They flew from their training camp in the UAE to Hà Nội, and travelled to Phú Thọ Province.

They had their first practice session at the Tam Nông District Stadium in the evening.

Coach Velizar Popov was not satisfied with the training conditions, especially the surface of the stadium.

He said he hoped in the next days, the team will be arranged a better field.

Popov said he has five players who competed in the previous SEA Games in the Philippines, where they won a bronze.

Myanmar will play Việt Nam on May 13. In the last three years, they have not beat Việt Nam in either friendly matches or the AFC U23 Championship qualification

Entrance is free for supporters of Group B in Nam Định Province’s Thiên Trường Stadium.

On May 1, organisers began selling tickets for Group A matches at Việt Trì Gymnasium in Phú Thọ Province; and the semi-final games at Mỹ Đình Stadium in Hà Nội.

Ticket prices for the group round is VNĐ200,000-500,000 each. Meanwhile it is VNĐ300,000-600,000 per ticket for the semi-finals.

Supporters can buy tickets online through seagames2021.com and digiticket.vn till 11am on May 3.

They also can buy Group A tickets at Phú Thọ Stadium’s booths on the morning of May 3. VNS
