Wushu artist Giang wins bronze medal at ASIAD

HA NOI — Vietnamese female wushu artist Hoang Thi Phuong Giang brought home one more bronze medal at the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 in Indonesia Wednesday morning.

Hanoian Giang earned 9.71 points to win the bronze medal in the women’s changquan category. Xinyi Qi of China took gold with 9.74 points, while Yi Li of Chinese Macau earned silver with 9.72 points.

Born in 1992, Giang began training in wushu in 2004. She has won more than 40 titles at domestic and international events including silver medals in the Asian and world championships in 2012 and 2013.

With Phuong’s win, Viet Nam’s medal tally rises to eight so far.

Earlier, Viet Nam won three silver medals thanks to weightlifters Thach Kim Tuan, Trinh Van Vinh and wushu artist Pham Quoc Khanh as well as four bronzes thanks to Duong Thuy Vi (wushu), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), mixed double Tran Quoc Cuong and Le Thi Linh Chi (shooting) and the taekwondo male team. — VNS
