Filling dish: Burger with soft-shell crab. |

Life is so busy that it’s not easy to see old friends. After many cancellations, my friends and I finally arranged a long-awaited lunch at the Salt n’ Pepper Eatery.
On arrival, we were welcomed with a Western-style villa and a lush green canopy. The spot was relaxed and tranquil, seemingly miles from noisy streets.
With about seven dishes the menu is not abundant. But for breakfast, lunch, brunch or dinner, the dishes offer both quality and quantity. The big plate contains a starter, main course, vegetables, sauce and a side dish.
I chose the sesame crust salmon fillet with cauliflower puree, soft boiled egg and sauteed spinach. As a fan of salmon, I was delighted with the texture, flavour and colour of the fillet that arrived.
Craving for something bold and cheesy? Then the bacon and egg burger with melted cheddar cheese will satisfy your cravings.

Tuck in: A plate for meat lovers. No matter how you call it, a breakfast, a lunch or a brunch, it’s really a big meal with enough nutrition. VNS Photo Minh Thu |
“The big breakfast has become our best seller so far. It has sourdough toast with a combination of bacon and sausages, but is still healthy with a kale salad, organic fresh eggs, grilled tomato and sauteed mushrooms,” said our waiter Dang Manh.
“You can add smoked salmon to dip in our homemade kalenaise.”
The burger with soft-shell crab is a brother of the bacon and egg burger. The crab is so big that I can’t even bite into it, needing to cut it up into pieces.
The crab is deep fried so it’s very crispy and tasty. As it’s a soft-shell crab, you can eat the whole thing, without needing to remove the shell.
The meal was enjoyed by all, but may be a little pricey for travelers. The host was lovely and the food was delicious.
Let’s end on a sweet note, we decided. So our date ended with coconut chia pudding (no sugar added), with soy and coconut milk with fresh seasonal fruits and nuts; and cinnamon vanilla waffles with Greek yogurt, berry compote and fresh fruits.
When the desserts were presented in front of us, they look eye-catching and nutritious. Especially, the charming scents of cinnamon and grilled banana wafted from the plates.
Each dessert was almost as big as a main course, not the tiny sweets you get at other restaurants. So in my opinion, you should save some space for pudding – you won’t be disappointed!
My friends told me this restaurant has the best brunch in town. Next time, we’ll choose the outdoor seating and enjoy the cool autumn weather and the delicious food. VNS
