HÀ NỘI — Korean thriller Parasite, which will compete for the Palme d'Or at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, will be screened in Việt Nam in June.

Directed by Bong Joon-ho, the film stars Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Jang Hye-jin, Choi Woo-shik and Park So-dam.

Bong is popular among Vietnamese audiences through his performances in The Host and Snowpiercer. His film Okja competed at the Cannes Film Festival in 2017 but won no prizes.

The theme of the film is social class and family dynamics, which Bong has explored in his previous films.

Parasite is a story of two families from different environments coming across each other and deals with laughter, horror and sorrow.

The two families' different backgrounds aim to mirror the gap between rich and poor.

The film is distributed nationwide by CJ HK Entertainment. — VNS
