HÀ NỘI — A new song composed by Vietnamese divo Tùng Dương will be the highlight of a live concert by the artist next month as he celebrates a 20-year career in music.
The song was inspired by how he overcame many challenges to make his wishes come true. The song is among a repertoire of 30 songs that Dương will perform in a concert celebrating his 20-year journey in music.

"Nearly 20 years passed by since I composed my first song, which was sung and recorded by my friend – singer Thái Thùy Linh. It can be said I am much more confident in my composition, so I decided to 'show' it to the audience. The song is about hope, which is a motivation for everyone to try their best and to live better," said the leading singer, who shot to fame after winning Việt Nam's most prestigious singing contest Sao Mai – Rendezvous, in 2004.
Dương's upcoming concert will open with songs that recall his childhood when he was a small boy but already showed his talent for singing by winning several awards at different children's music contests.
"I've got my first ever trip abroad thanks to winning the children's singing contest Tuổi Hồng. I was invited to perform in Russia, and it was the first time I crossed the border of Việt Nam to the outer world. It was when I was 12 years old," the singer recalls at a press conference in Hà Nội about the concert.
The second chapter of the concert will be related to his turning point – the Sao Mai – Rendezvous contest, where he conquered judges and audiences with his "signature" folk tune-inspired music. Winning this contest was not only special for the singer, but also kickstarted his development since.

The concert will feature pop and jazz ballads, through which the audience can see the younger version of the singer, who can add his signature style to any tune.
"This might be the most surprising part of the concert," Dương said.
In the last part of the performance, audiences will enjoy new songs as well as those that help to portray Dương as an 'avant-garde artist who is tireless in seeking and experimenting with new creativity. His experimental music has been presented in his successful albums Những Ô Màu Khối Lập Phương (The Coloured Cubes) and Độc Đạo (Only Path).
Two Vietnamese divas, Thanh Lam and Hà Trần, who are also Dương's close friends, will have a duet performance with the divo.
The singer, who has won a record 13 Devotion Awards – an award dubbed as 'Vietnamese Grammy', will also share the stage with soprano Đào Tố Loan for a unique musical-inspired performance.
Other guest artists include songwriter Lê Minh Sơn, singer Uyên Linh – winner of the Vietnam Idol 2010, and rapper Hà Lê.
The duet performance with Uyên Linh will offer lovely, romantic, and passionate moments, while the collaboration with rapper Hà Lê will showcase contemporary staging.
Sharing his feeling when, for the first time, having the chance to share the stage with the Vietnamese divo, rapper Hà said: "I am moving and thankful for this opportunity. The 20-year journey of Dương has inspired me because I want to take that as a goal for my music career."
Music director Nguyễn Hữu Vượng, who joined hand with Dương in his previous live show Human and the same name album in 2020, has continued to work with the divo for the concert next month. The music director plays a significant role in the hat trick of Dương at the Devotion Awards 2021, including Singer of the Year, Album of the Year, and Concert of the Year.

"The large scale or the complex organisation of the concert never can challenge me, but how to overcome myself in music creativity. For me, the next show must be better than the previous ones," Dương said.
The live concert will take place on November 25 at the National Convention Centre. It's expected to have 4,000 audiences attend the event. — VNS
