HÀ NỘI — The French Institute in Hà Nội has launched a special cinema programme themed "Ciné Tết 2023" to welcome Tết (Lunar New Year) in Việt Nam.
The programme includes 16 French films being screened during the Tết holiday for free on online platforms as part of cooperation between the institute and the Bình Hạnh Đan (BHD) production company.
With the theme "Cinema of Tết: watching new movies in the new Spring to be happy throughout the year", the event is organised as a meaningful event for the audience, and at the same time introducing French cinema and culture to Vietnamese people.
Among 16 French movies are 11 long and five short films, with Vietnamese subtitles. These films have never been shown in Việt Nam.
Movies are broadcast completely free and unlimited on platforms (website, mobile apps, smart TVs) of VOD DANET, FPT Play and FPT Television, for one month, from January 18 to February 18, reported the Nhân Dân (People) newspaper.
The films are carefully selected from the online French Film Festival (MyFFF) and major French film producers as gifts to Vietnamese audiences on the occasion of the new year, according to danet.vn.
Sophie Maysonnave, Director of the French Institute in Hà Nội, said Ciné Tết 2023 has returned and provided films of various types to all Vietnamese audiences, such as comedies, dramas, great classics and animated short films for the family.
Specifically, Nhân Dân reported, the films shown on this occasion are Keep An Eye On (comedy), Through the Fire (drama), Diving (drama), Wine Calling (documentary), Selfie (comedy), The Lodger (crime movie), Magnetic Beats (drama), Sotie (drama), A Tale of Love and Desire (drama, romance), About Joan (drama, romance), To Our Loves (drama), Anxious Body (2D animation), A Story For 2 Trumpets (2D animation), Pests (3D animation, drama), Please Don’t Touch (cartoon, comedy), and The Night Watch (2D-3D animation, drama). — VNS
