HÀ NỘI - Three students have been named as winners at the third Korean language contest - the Korean Ambassador Cup 2024.
Trần Thu Tâm, Bành Thị Diễm Hương and Bùi Trần Bảo Linh excelled against 63 other contestants from across Việt Nam.
Tâm from Hà Nội University, Hương from Cần Thơ University's King Sejong Institute and Linh from the Foreign Language Specialised School came top of the major, non-major and high school categories.
Tâm and Hương will have a six-month Korean language study course at Ewha Womans University, while Linh wins a trip to Korea.
“This is the third contest to be held in Việt Nam and it is a dream for Vietnamese students and pupils who are learning Korean," said Choi Young Sam, Korea's Ambassador to Việt Nam. "Korean language is taught at Vietnamese school as the first foreign language and there is an increasing demand for Korean learning in Việt Nam, so we will proactively support Vietnamese to learn Korean in a better and more accessible environment."
The contest was first held in 2022, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Việt Nam and Korea. This year, 66 contestants from 25 colleges, 27 high schools and secondary schools and 14 King Sejong Institutes across the nation took part.
The contest is organised by the Korean Embassy in Việt Nam, in collaboration with the Korean Cultural Centre in Việt Nam, King Sejong Institute Foundation and others. - VNS
