HÀ NỘI – The first National Conference on the Development of Cultural Industries will take place on Sunday in both in-person and online formats.

About 200 delegates are expected to attend the conference, which will be presided over by Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính and Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà at the government offices. Also participating online will be 63 cities and provinces.

During a press conference held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hà Nội on Tuesday, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trịnh Thị Thủy highlighted the cultural industries as a sustainable contribution to the country's socio-economic development and Việt Nam's image to the world.

“The conference will practically concretise the task of implementing the Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng’s conclusions at the 2021 National Culture Conference, and the Party's directives and resolutions on developing cultural industries that match Việt Nam’s potential and advantages,” Thủy stated.

The focus of the conference is to evaluate the achievements and assess the development of each sector within the cultural industries.

The twelve sectors of the cultural industry include: cinema; cultural tourism; performing arts; fine arts, photography and exhibitions; advertising; architecture; design; publishing; fashion; television and radio; software and entertainment games; and crafts.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will present a specific report on implementing the Strategy for the development of Việt Nam’s Cultural Industries in 2020, with a vision to 2030.

Seven ministries and 63 provinces and cities, along with 15 presentations from domestic and international experts, businesses and units, are expected to explore the management of cultural industries.

In addition, the three cultural industry centres, including Hà Nội, HCM City and Đà Nẵng, will present thematic reports on the implementation results of the development of cultural industries in the area.

The delegates will discuss innovative approaches to the management and investment of the cultural industries, as well as the obstacles and problems they have encountered and the ways they have suggested to overcome them and advance the growth of the sector.

The Government and the PM will designate particular tasks for each ministry, sector and locality based on the outcomes of the conference.

They will also create mechanisms, policies, and issue solutions to overcome obstacles and promote the development of the cultural industries. – VNS
