HCM CITY — Vietnamese pop idol Sơn Tùng M-TP is planning a new “Sky Tour” that will include three shows in HCM City, Đà Nẵng and Hà Nội in July and August.

Tùng will sing his latest single Hãy Trao Cho Anh (Give It to Me), a Latin and hip-hop song composed by the singer and mixed by Vietnamese DJ Onionn.

The single’s music video, featuring American award-winning rapper and producer Snoop Dogg, was released on July 1.

Google said it was the world’s most-viewed MV for seven days on YouTube, with 70 million views.

Tùng will perform his hits like Chạy Ngay Đi (Run Now), Lạc Trôi (Drifting), Không Phải Dạng Vừa Đâu (I’m Quite Different) and Em Của Ngày Hôm Qua (You Come from Yesterday).

He will also work with Việt Nam’s leading underground artists and music producers, such as Justatee, Kimmese, Rhymastic, Tiên Tiên, Kay Trần, DJ Onionn, Khắc Hưng, SlimV and Long Halo.

Tùng, who is also the organiser, producer and concept maker for "Sky Tour", said at a press conference in HCM City on Wednesday that he "came from the underground artist community".

"I’m inspired by all these artists [in the upcoming shows] who have helped my musical growth.”

He said that he promised his fans last year that he would organise “Sky Tour”.

“I will also use hi-end sound and visual technologies to surprise my fans,” he said.

The “Sky Tour” will kick off on July 28 at the Seventh Military Zone Gymnasium in HCM City’s Tân Bình District.

It will continue on August 4 in Tiên Sơn Gymnasium in Đà Nẵng, and end on August 11 at Điền Kinh Gymnasium in Hà Nội.

“I want to 'live in music' with my friends and fans. I ensure that the Sky Tour will be an unforgettable memory for all of us,” Tùng said.

Born in 1994 in Thái Bình Province, Tùng began his professional career in HCM City in 2011 and quickly became a breakout star in the music industry.

His MVs, including Lạc Trôi, Chạy Ngay Đi, Nơi Này Có Anh (I’m Here) and Chúng Ta Không Thuộc Về Nhau (We Don't Belong Together), have earned over 100 million views on YouTube, making him the year’s most popular artist in the country.

He won the Young Promising Actor award for the leading part, his first role as an actor, in Wepro Entertainment’s musical Chàng Trai Năm Ấy (Dandelion) at the 2015 Golden Kite Awards from the Việt Nam Cinematography Association.

In 2017, he won the award Best Solo Release of 2017 presented by SBS PopAsia, an Australian music radio programme that broadcasts 24/7 Asian pop hits online and on radio. — VNS
