HA NOI — Giang Trang, who is known for singing songs by late songwriter Trinh Cong Son, recently released a record entitled Lenh Denh Nho Pho (Nostalgia for the Old Streets).
The record, which includes 10 songs written by Trinh Cong Son, is the vinyl version of her debut CD that she released seven years ago, in 2012.
On the album, with music in an acoustic style, Trang’s pure and enchanting voice was accompanied by violinist Anh Tu and guitarist Anh Hoang.
“I was very lucky to meet both musicians, and we share the same music style – simple, natural and sincere. Thanks to the encounter with these guys, my plan for a debut album was realised,” Trang said.
According to the Ha Noi-based singer, the album is product of three young people who are all in love with music. “That’s why you can feel the youthfulness in every song,” she said.
The album is well-regarded by music lovers, especially fans of composer Son. Among them is Tran Duc – owner of a well-known LP and CD store in Ha Noi.
“After listening to Giang Trang, I was bewitched by her voice. I was impressed by the way she sings. It’s very natural, very relaxed,” he said.
Won over by the album, Duc decided to invest and produce the LP format of the album, which is also the first LP produced under his trademark Tran Duc Store CD-LP-Mastertopes.
“In recent years, vinyl has made a comeback with more and more people enjoying this retro-style format. I have a number of loyal clients who are not only music lovers but also LP collectors. I just want to offer the best,” he said, referring to the LP by Giang Trang.
To produce the LP, Duc contacted Sterling Sound – an audio mastering studio, which is home to Grammy Award winning sound engineers. Luckily, all the master tapes of Lenh Denh Nho Pho met the tough quality requirements of Sterling Sound.
“Since I first contacted them, it took seven months until we received the final products – the LP Lenh Denh Nho Pho,” the investor said.
A batch of 1,000 LPs has been sent to Viet Nam.
The LP cover was designed by famous contemporary painter Le Thiet Cuong. Like singer Giang Trang, Cuong is also aware of the ‘ethereal’ spirit of the music by Trinh Cong Son and has created a minimalist painting for the album. — VNS
