TÂY NINH – Tây Ninh Province will host a festival to honour the art of vegetarian cooking on February 17-19 in Tây Ninh city.

The province’s art of vegetarian cooking was recognised as a national intangible heritage by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on January 12.

According to the provincial People’s Committee, the event is a special cultural event to preserve and promote vegetarian cuisine of the province and Việt Nam. It is also an opportunity to introduce the province’s culture and landscapes to attract more local and international tourists, and develop its tourism.

The festival will have the participation of chefs from the province and neighbouring provinces as well as HCM City, who will offer cooking demonstrations of vegetarian dishes.

Việt Nam’s leading cuisine artisans will hold workshops on vegetarian cuisine and its benefits.

The event will include 80 stalls presenting 188 signature vegetarian dishes from the province and the country with descriptions that help tourists learn more about the art of cooking.

There will be performances of various national intangible cultural heritages such as tài tử music, and Chhay-dăm drum dance, and a traditional dance of the Khmer in the province.

The festival is expected to attract one million local and foreign visitors. VNS
