HÀ NỘI Young talents from the Việt Nam National Opera & Ballet (VNOB) Art Club next month will treat the audience to a show that combines different kinds of dance.
The show entitled Thế Giới Trong Mơ (Dreamy World) will feature tap dance, K-pop and the Swan Lake ballet with guest artists Phạm Thu Hằng, Nhật Huy and Trịnh Minh Hiền. It will tell the story of an adventure in a dream of a little girl on New Year's Eve.
In the dream, the girl meets Tinker Bell fairy who takes her and her dolls on an adventure in the forest. During the adventure, she meets the God of Time, God of Wood, Goddess of Rain and beautiful swans.
"Swan Lake ballet by Tchaikovsky is the most popular of classical ballet performances," said ballerina Hằng. She will perform Princess Odette in an extract of Swan Lake with her students from the VNOB club.
"The image of ballet dancers like swans is familiar to Vietnamese audience. I have performed the Swan Lake ballet at VNOB, and in the upcoming show I will dance with little swans," she said.
Hằng is a leading ballerina at VNOB, winning top awards at the 4th Indochina Arts Festival 2014 and at the International Dance Festival 2020.
She also received the gold medal at the National Dance, Sing and Music Festival 2022. She is soloist of ballets including Swan Lake, Nut Cracker, and Giselle.
She currently teaches ballet at the club to nurture young ballet talents.
"I'm both happy and worried a little bit because Swan Lake is very technical even for professional ballerinas. I try to choreograph simple movements to suit young dancers. I hope that my performance with the students will inspire and encourage them to keep the love for ballet," she said.
The show will charm the audience with tap dance and trendy K-pop dance before introducing the swans.
The one-night show will begin at 8pm on January 7 at VNOB, No. 11 Núi Trúc Alley. Tickets are sold from VNĐ150,000 (US42 cents). Please call hotline 0369597000 or 0977377456 for further information. VNS
