HÀ NỘI — A charity concert put together by three siblings, bringing together Vietnamese folk music, classical and ballet will take place on August 19 at the Petit Concert Hall at the Việt Nam Academy of Music.

"Thêm yêu thương" or "Sharing the Love" has attracted students, currently studying music in Europe and the United States, and other friends at the Hà Nội conservatory of music and Hà Nội Dance School to work on this special project.

"This concert shall benefit children's charities in Việt Nam," said Phan Hải An, a Princeton University pre-med student in neuroscience, who puts his studies on hold to work with Philadelphia Ballet.

The brother who dances and plays piano and his younger sisters who have performed at nursing homes while studying in the US, were delighted to see the joy they brought to the elderly.

"It's extremely rewarding to have the ability to make others happy," Phan Cầm Thi and Phan Linh Đan wrote to Việt Nam News.

A shortened music programme shall be performed again at the centres when they deliver the donations.

Students participating in the concert currently study classical music at Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts in Germany, the Interlochen Arts Academy, Boston Conservatory and Berklee school in the US.

They will play Paganini, Mozart, Liszt, Shostakovich and Vietnamese traditional quan họ music.
