HÀ NỘI — The National Mourning Day commemorating the 47th Martyrdom of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and his family members has been observed at the Bangladeshi Embassy.
To pay tribute, the Bangladeshi Embassy organised a day-long programme.
In the early morning, the National Flag was hoisted and lowered to half-mast by Ambassador Samina Naz.

A special prayer was offered for the departed soul of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members, and for the well-being of the country, the Prime Minister, and for Bangladesh-Việt Nam bilateral friendly relations.
The second part of the National Mourning Day was observed with the presence of distinguished guests: Nguyễn Phương Nga, President of Việt Nam Union of Friendship Organisations, High-level officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Việt Nam; Trần Thị Dung, Vice-Chairman of the Association in Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans; representative of Diplomatic Corps in Hà Nội, Vietnamese friends, media personalities, and Bangladesh diaspora in Việt Nam.
The programme led by ambassador Samina Naz included laying floral tribute to the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, lighting a candle, one-minute silence to pay respect to the Father of the Nation, a discussion programme, screening of a documentary on Bangabandhu’s life, and finally, handover of a wheelchair, a walker, a supporting stick, and a cheque of VNĐ10,000,000 (US$427) to the Association for Support of Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans.
In the discussion programme, ambassador Samina Naz expressed her profound regards and deep respect for the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangladesh’s architect of independence.
The ambassador emphasised that Bangabandhu always cherished a dream of building a happy and prosperous country and attaining political emancipation.
The daughter of Bangabandhu, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has led Bangladesh to socio-economic advancement to materialise the dream of Bangabandhu.
