HÀ NỘI — A graphic design contest for young Vietnamese people has been launched for the Việt Nam Festival of Creativity & Design 2021 (VFCD).
The VFCD, now in its third year, is organised by RMIT University in Việt Nam, in collaboration with UNESCO, the Việt Nam National Institute of Culture & Arts Studies (VICAS), and COLAB Việt Nam.
The festival combines inspirational, informative events and diverse creative experiences, open to anyone interested in, and passionate about, creativity and design.
The contest, entitled 'VFCD Graphic Design Contest 2021: Key Visual & Creative Merchandise', is a part of the festival to challenge young participants to define a strong presence for VFCD 2021 with the theme of a creative future and how cultural and creative industries enhance the social and economic development of Việt Nam and promote the smart development of the country's major cities.
The contest is seeking creative and innovative designs which can promote Việt Nam’s identity and culture and can be easily adapted to various media platforms or materials, according to RMIT Dean of the School of Communication & Design, Professor Julia Gaimster.
"The creative and cultural industries play a key role in the socio-economic development of Việt Nam and in order to compete on the world stage, the country needs to nurture and showcase creative talents,” said Gaimster.
“We want to assist Việt Nam with our initiative to place a focus on young talents.”
The contest is open to students, creative practitioners and those with an interest in Vietnamese culture and creativity aged 18 to 30.
The contest allows participants to submit their designs as individuals or groups of a maximum of three members. Entries will be reviewed by a panel of expert judges.
The assessment is based on five criteria including creativity, innovation, symbolic thinking, branding orientation and inspiration.
The prizes include one award worth VNĐ25 million (roughly US$1,000) and three awards worth VNĐ5 million.
The submission deadline is July 18. Contestants are all requested to submit the works via the website vfcd.events.
The VFCD is an opportunity for creative organisations and individuals to connect and celebrate their unique talents and contributions to the Vietnamese creative culture.
The festival includes cultural heritage exploration tours, talks/seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and various online activities that allow anyone from anywhere to join. VNS
