HÀ NỘI The Hà Nội Culture and Food Festival 2023 will be held at Thống Nhất Park from December 1-3, the municipal culture authority has announced.

Highlights of the festival will be a space to introduce regional and international cuisine, and an area featuring the delicacies of the city's outlying villages and other localities.

Besides, festival goers will also have a chance to take part in folk games, cultural, art and food exchanges; and seminars on human resources development to facilitate the food industry.

The three-day event aims at honouring, preserving and promoting traditional cultural and cuisine values of the city while developing and effectively tapping the brand name of Hà Nội culture, food and tourism, and intensifying business cooperation opportunities in the locality.

It is also a chance to spread the image of the thousand-year-old capital city as a unique tourism, culture and food destination to both domestic and foreign visitors, as well as bolstering people-to-people exchanges and friendship with foreign embassies based in the city.

The typical dishes of the city include nem (spring rolls), phở (beef noodle), chả cá (grilled fish), bún ốc (snail noodle), bánh tôm (shrimp cake) and bánh cuốn (steamed rice rolls).

Many dishes have been honoured by foreign tourism websites and included in the travel guide for visitors to Hà Nội. Particularly, the famous travel site Tripadvisor named the city as one of the top 25 culinary destinations in the world in 2022. In 2023, three restaurants in Hà Nội were awarded Michelin stars, and 45 others honoured at the Michelin Guide Ceremony event held in June in Hà Nội.

According to the Hà Nội tourism vision until 2030, the city will diversify its culinary products, focusing on developing night food tours and culinary craft villages, along with a wide range of restaurants to serve visitors. VNS
