HCM CITY - A series of remarkable events, including seminars, exhibitions, film festivals, competitions, and performances, featuring renowned French-Vietnamese guests, will be held during the 'Fashion and Design' season from now until the end of 2023.
This was recently shared at a press conference introducing a series of cultural events the cultural activities of the 2023 Season 2 programme at the French Institute in HCM City on September 20 at the French Consul General's Residence.
This event is part of a series of activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the 10th anniversary of the strategic partnership between France and Việt Nam.
Numerous fashion and design activities
According to Emmanuelle Pavillon Grosser, the French Consul General, the theme of "Cuisine" in the first half of 2023 brought many exciting events related to the history of bread, culinary fusion, wine, diplomatic cuisine, coffee, and cocoa.
The public also has the opportunity to meet and interact with famous personalities and renowned culinary experts from both France and Việt Nam.
Season 2, with the theme "Fashion and Design", will continue with many outstanding activities such as fashion and design seminars, high-fashion nights, fashion film festivals, and the Fashion in Paris competition.
Emmanuelle Charrier, Director of the French Institute in HCM City, said that he has invited prominent figures in the fields of fashion and perfumery from France, the French Fashion Institute and the French Federation of Fashion and Haute Couture to Việt Nam to participate in seminars on high fashion, sustainable fashion, environmentally-friendly design, and perfumery.
This is an opportunity for the audience, especially fashion enthusiasts, to enjoy unique fashion performances, explore the luxury fashion industry of France through experts, learn about the development of the Vietnamese market for French luxury brands, and understand the digital transformation in the fashion industry in both France and Việt Nam.
Focusing on supporting young Vietnamese designers, Charrier also emphasised that the main goal of the event series is to target the young audience, and support young designers and the creative community in Việt Nam.
Therefore, Vietnamese models will showcase Vietnamese designs at the fashion show instead of French models and brands.
A Fashion in Paris competition is being held from June to October for young talents in the Vietnamese fashion design industry.
The judging panel consists of prominent figures in the French-Vietnamese fashion world and they have selected the top seven outstanding contestants to present their ideas.
The winners will be fully sponsored for a two-week internship at the French Fashion Institute in Paris in 2024.
First Runner-Up Phương Anh expressed her excitement about having the opportunity to learn about famous French fashion and perfume brands.
According to her, this diverse event series is suitable for various target audiences, including designers, models, fashion enthusiasts, and professionals, enabling them to learn and exchange cultural experiences.
Phương Anh is also enthusiastic about the Fashion in Paris competition.
As soon as she heard about it at the beginning of the year, she shared the news with her friends to join her at the event.
This provides an opportunity to express oneself, as well as receive feedback from renowned experts.
