HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội's famed 'train street' has once again become a topic of concern for the authorities, prompting the Department of Tourism to take action.
As per the directive issued on Tuesday, all tour operators and transportation companies offering services in the city must refrain from organising tours to the railway route along Phùng Hưng-Trần Phú-Lê Duẩn streets in Hoàn Kiếm and Ba Đình districts.
Additionally, these companies have been urged to advise tourists, particularly those from overseas, against congregating for photo opportunities or frequenting coffee shops along the route.
The railway line, which passes within arm's reach of homes and businesses, has become a popular tourist destination, but it poses a potential danger to both visitors and locals.

According to the authority, the clampdown is to ensure people's security and safety when they visit and travel in Hà Nội.
The department has asked all the tourism businesses to strictly implement the regulations on railway traffic safety and urban order. The department’s inspectors will regulate implementation and handle violations.
'Train Street' has long been one of the most popular tourist sites in Hà Nội and a regular favourite on social media.
However, it is also dangerous. The train track is still operational, and there have been security issues with tourists who like to sit and pose on the tracks.
According to the department’s deputy director Nguyễn Hồng Minh, numerous tourists flock to the site every day to take photos.
“Several tourist groups were taken there by cars and gathered at the barrier at 5 Trần Phú Street, where blockades were put in place to stop tourists from accessing the street," Minh said. "The group caused traffic jams, and there was a high risk of railway accidents, which creates more pressure for the railway safety guards.”

He also said that although 'Train Street' is a magnet for tourists, especially foreigners, there are many potential safety risks for tourists in this place when all the coffee shops alongside the rail track have violated the rail corridor safety.
The Hoàn Kiếm District has conducted several crackdowns to close the 'Train Street', including requesting local households to sign in a document committing to not doing business alongside the track.
