ĐÀ NẴNG — HCM City and Hà Nội triumphed in the National Youth Swimming and Finswimming Championship which concluded in Đà Nẵng City on Monday.
HCM City took the lead in the swimming category with 44 gold medals, 29 silver medals and 33 bronze medals. The National Defence Sports Centre 4 team ranked second with 37 golds, 14 silvers, 16 bronzes, while the hosts Đà Nẵng came third with nine golds, 11 silvers and six bronzes.
Meanwhile, Hà Nội topped the medal tally in the finswimming category with 12 golds, 12 silvers and 12 bronzes. The National Defence Sports Centre 5 team finished in second place with seven golds, 10 silvers and 11 bronzes. Thanh Hóa were in third place with seven golds, five silvers and three bronzes.
This year’s tournament attracted the participation of 31 teams across the country such as HCM City, Cần Thơ, Quảng Ninh, Tiền Giang, Long An and Đồng Tháp.
The event was organised by the Sports Authority of Việt Nam, the Aquatics Sports Association and the Đà Nẵng Department of Culture and Sports.
Deputy Director of the Đà Nẵng Department of Culture and Sports, Nguyễn Trọng Thao said that the city has successfully hosted many major sporting events, including swimming tournaments, which had boosted its profile in a positive way.
From these tournaments, Vietnamese sports and Đà Nẵng sports have recruited many outstanding athletes to compete successfully at national, regional and international events. VNS
