HẢI PHÒNG — Việt Nam dominated at the Southeast Asian Canoeing Sprint Senior, U23, U19 and Junior Championships which wrapped up in Hải Phòng on July 7.
The host athletes stunned regional rivals with 58 golds, 53 silvers and 33 bronze medals after seven days of competitions at the Hải Phòng Rowing Centre.
Thailand was placed second with 13 golds and Singapore finished third, with nine.
On the final day, Vietnamese canoeists secured five titles. Among the winners were Paris Olympic participant Nguyễn Thị Hương in the senior women's C1 200m, bagging her third gold from this championships.
Her teammate Diệp Thị Hương won in the U23 women's C1 200m, Diệp Thị Thủy and Nguyễn Thị Lợi triumphed in the U23 women's pair C2 200m, Dương Anh Đức earned senior men's C1 200m and senior women's quartet won the C4 200m.
Earlier, Việt Nam also topped the regional rowing championships for senior and junior players which ended on June 30 at the same venue.
More than 500 athletes took part in two tournaments as preparation for the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand next year. VNS
