THANH HÓA — The National Youth Judo Championship’s opening ceremony took place on Friday in the central province of Thanh Hóa.
The event attracted the participation of more than 600 athletes from 25 teams across the country, making it the largest tournament to date. This underscores the strong development and growing popularity of judo in Việt Nam.
Athletes will compete in various weight classes for both men and women, in age-group categories for both performance and combat events.
The championship serves as an opportunity for teams to assess the quality of their youth training programs. It also provides a platform for young, talented athletes to exchange knowledge, gain competition experience and improve their expertise.
The event, co-organised by the Thanh Hóa Provincial People's Committee and the Việt Nam Judo Federation, will continue until July 19. — VNS
