HCM CITY — The GreenUP Marathon - Long An Half Marathon to be held in Long An Province’s Cần Giuộc District on August 24 is expected to attract more than 4,000 runners, who will run three distances - 5km, 10km and 21km.
Coteccons Construction JSC in collaboration with Tuổi Trẻ newspaper, the province Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Đồng Tâm Group on June 18 announced the third annual race with the message "‘Finish line is a place to start".
The race will pass through Long An International Port with its tallest flagpole in Indochina, and familiar village landscapes with lush nipa palm groves, shrimp farms, vintage pottery water jars, and other sights.
There will be a number of activities that showcase local cultural features such as traditional drum performances.
In addition to prizes in each category, the winners of the men and women’s 21km race will receive a special prize of an air ticket and entry to the Laguna Phuket Marathon in Thailand next year.
Like in the last two seasons the organisers have used recycled materials and eco-friendly materials to make the medals and runners vests.
They are committed to donating seedlings for growing forests in Quảng Trị and Quảng Bình provinces, with the target being to plant 11,000 trees in each place after the event.
The 2024 GreenUP Marathon will also support Long An Province in taking care of children through practical and meaningful activities. — VNS
