KHÁNH HÒA — More than 9,000 runners checked in at the third VnExpress Marathon Nha Trang 2024 which will be held on August 11 in the coastal city of Nha Trang, Khánh Hòa Province.
It is a record number of participants with about 400 foreign runners, mainly from Japan, China and South Korea. They will race in four distances of 5km, 10km, 21km and 42km starting and finishing at the April 2 Square on Trần Phú Street which runs along the beautiful white-sand beach.
They will enjoy the majestic scenery of Lương Son Pass and the stunning sunrise moments on Trần Phú Bridge. This running route meet standards of the International Marathon Association (AIMS).
A big bonus of more than VNĐ1 billion (US$39,500) will be given to the winners while all of finishers will receive medals.
"The tournament is expected to encourage physical exercise movement in the community, introduce the image of the people and landscape of beautiful Nha Trang to international friends, and contribute to promoting local economic development," said deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture and Sports Nguyễn Tuấn Thanh
Meanwhile Ngô Mạnh Cường, deputy head of the tournament organising committee, said: "We hope that through this race, we will create a healthy running community and connect people who love running around the world together, aiming for the noble values of this sport." —VNS
