Trang, world No 80, on August 23, defeated Kisona Selvaduray of Malaysia, who is No 54, by 21-10, 21-17, to advance to the second round.
She will next meet Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark. Blichfeldt, world No 14, got a bye to the second round.
Earlier, national No 1 Linh made a big bang when the world No 60 came from behind to beat No 27 Aya Ohori of the hosts 12-21, 21-19, 21-11.
