HÀ NỘI — The 3vs3 basketball tournament held by the Hà Nội Basketball Federation (HBF) on Saturday at Lý Thái Tổ Flower Garden by Hoàn Kiếm Lake will feature several top players from the Vietnam Basketball Association (VBA).

According to the organisers, the Đinh brothers Tâm Đinh and Sang Đinh, two of the best Vietnamese-American VBA players, will compete.

While Tâm Đinh will play for 3F Galaxy, his younger brother will play for Ba Đình, one of the most popular amateur basketball teams in Hà Nội.

For Thang Long Warriors, the professional team will start with Justin Young, Nguyễn Phú Hoàng and Nguyễn Thành Đạt.

The tournament will take place from 1pm to 10pm with 16 teams including 12 male teams and four female teams.

The tournament will feature four top male basketball teams including the VBA’s Thang Long Warriors and Hanoi Buffaloes, as well as the Air Force - Air Defence basketball club. The remaining male teams will be semi-professional teams.

Đào Văn Kiên, general secretary of HBF, said the tournament will use 3x2 court according to the FIBA standards, along with using the current international law of 3x3 basketball tournament.

The playing time for each group match will be eight minutes while the semi-final and final will have 10 minutes for each match.

For the women's tournament, four women's teams will compete in the round-robin format. The tournament is the first move of HBF to hold top tournaments for the basketball community in Hà Nội.

With the new VBA season postponed until the end of this year last week due to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 3x3 tournament will be a chance for some of the capital’s thousands of basketball fans to get their fix of hoops for now. — VNS
