HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam won two bronzes from the King’s Cup 2024 -- ISTAF World Sepaktakraw Championship 2024, which is ongoing in Thailand.
The medals were in the hoop events. In the women's category, Việt Nam placed third below Thailand and Cambodia, while in the men's class, Việt Nam followed the hosts and Myanmar.
According to the coaching board, hoop was not Việt Nam's strong point, so the results were encouraging for all players.
The team arrived in Thailand with a target of winning at least gold in the women's quad (team of four) event, in which Việt Nam are the defending champions.
Following a draw, Việt Nam are in Group A with Malaysia, Laos, China and Cambodia. Group B gathers Thailand, India, South Korea Japan and Myanmar.
In the men's side, Việt Nam are in Group B with Laos,Cambodia and the hosts. Group A includes South Korea, Myanmar and Japan.
Matches will wrap up on September 8, with the closing ceremony on September 9.
This year championships feature 29 teams competing across 17 events. — VNS
