HA NOI (VNS)  — Anyone interested in learning about the evolution of colonial architecture in Ha Noi is invited to join a city walk on Saturday hosted by the Friends of Viet Nam Heritage. The number of walkers is limited to 20.

The Friends will start the walk in Ly Thai To Park next to the old post office, which was the heart of the French colony during the first decades of the 20th century.

From there, they will walk to the Opera House and down to the School of Pharmacy, originally the University of Ha Noi, designed by French architect Ernest Hebrard.

Following the wide, tree-lined streets of Ly Thuong Kiet and Tran Hung Dao, walkers will then trace the evolution of colonial architecture up to the end of the French era in the 1940s.

The cost is VND70,000. Register by emailing Katie Jacobs at katielaurenjacobs@gmail.com. The tour will start at 9am. — VNS
