HCM CITY (VNS) — An African jazz night will be organised at IDECAF in downtown HCM City at 8pm on Thursday.
The show will bring together Congo-born singer and guitarist Gasandji, percussionist Koto Brawa, fluter Dramane Dembele and guitarist Abdoulaye Kouyate.
Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gasandji blows, as a sort of mystery, the sacred dimension of both her music and songs. She defends a certain idea of her African origins naturally.
Her first theatrical experience happened when she was a dancer and choreographer. Gasandji became famous when she produced her own shows and appeared as a guest star along with artists such as Lokua, Keziah Jones or Imany.
She released her self-titled album in 2013 and won the Award "Coup de Coeur Francophone 2013" from the Academy of Music Charles Cros.
Tickets for the show cost VND100,000 with a 50 per cent discount for students. — VNS
