Classical music lovers in the capital will have an opportunity to once
again enjoy famed American conductor Dorian Wilson when he leads the
Viet Nam National Symphony Orchestra at concerts to be held today and
tomorrow at the Ha Noi Opera House.
HA NOI (VNS)— Classical music lovers in the capital will have an opportunity to once again enjoy famed American conductor Dorian Wilson when he leads the Viet Nam National Symphony Orchestra at concerts to be held today and tomorrow at the Ha Noi Opera House
Under the baton of Wilson, the musicians will perform Georges Bizet's Symphony, Edvard Grieg's Peer Gunt's Suite No 1 and Duke Ellington's Suite at the concert, which is titled The Fire of April.
Tickets are priced from VND200,000 (US$10) to VND500,000 and are available at the opera house at 1 Trang Tien Street.
Wilson has received widespread acclaim, especially in Germany, Russia and America, where in 2010 he opened the 2010/2011 season for the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera with a concert of Schubert's and Shostakovich's 5th symphonies.
In October 2011 he conducted a Beethoven concert with famous artists Harriet Krijgh, Kim Barbier and Matsuda Lina in Ha Noi.
In recognition of his work over the years, Wilson has been made Permanent Guest Conductor of the St Petersburg Symphony. — VNS
