HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam's Under-23 team lost 0-1 to V-League newcomer Hung Vuong An Giang in their second friendly match yesterday (Nov 27) in Binh Duong Province.
Felix Ajara headed the only goal of the match from a corner kick in the last minute of the first half.
Earlier, the Nigerian and Thanh Binh had created a number of threatening chances, keeping goalie Nguyen Manh alert, but they were not able to score.
The national team made up several changes in the second half and dominated the game, but the substitutes had no success in breaching An Giang's strong defence.
"An Giang defended very well while my players were not accurate in their shots. They lost their focus in the last minutes of the first half and conceded the goal, said U23 coach Hoang Van Phuc.
"My strikers (Mac Hong Quan and Ha Minh Tuan) have not found their best form, but please be patient. I believe that they will shine at the SEA Games," he added.
The team will play their last friendly match against First Division team HCM City club on Saturday. – VNS
