BA RIA VUNG TAU (VNS)— An Giang Province strengthened its top position at the National Cycling Championships after the fourth day of competition in Vung Tau City yesterday.
Provincial cyclist Tran Thi Phuong Trang overcame her teammate Nguyen Thi That to win the women's 500m sprint event in the final.
Vo Thi Phuong Phi of Binh Duong took a bronze medal.
On the men's side, national team member Le Van Duan of HCM City passed defending champion Do Tuan Anh in the last 10m to win the title. Military's Tran Van Quyen earned a bronze.
Binh Duong's Nguyen Thuy Dung ended on top of the podium in the women's 3km time trial after finishing first with a time of 4min 6.37sec.
Bui Minh Thuy had a victory in the men's pool, taking the gold in 4:55.76.
An Giang maintained first place in the tournament with four gold and three silver medals. Binh Duong were second with two golds, one silver and two bronzes. Vinh Long, with two golds and one silver, stand third.
Today, competitors will take part in the women's and men's 500m doubles and team's time-trial events.
The national tournament, which ends today, has attracted more than 100 athletes from nine teams. They are competing for 18 sets of medals. — VNS
