CON DAO (VNS) — Argentinean newspaper Clarin has described Con Dao Islands as a compelling destination despite their dark days in the past.
Con Dao is striving to develop tourism, capitalising on its unspoiled beaches, primeval forests and historical values, it says.
During the past wars, eight prisons were built across 52km of Con Son Island – the biggest of the archipelago. The cells were opened to the public as a museum on war crimes in the 1990s.
Con Dao welcomes around 50,000 tourists a year. — VNS
