HA NOI (VNS) — Traditional puppetry will be performed in Ha Noi to celebrate World Theatre Day, which falls on March 27.
Puppeteers from the Viet Nam Puppetry Theatre and the Thang Long Water Puppetry Theatre will showcase Vietnamese water puppetry.
A seminar by the Viet Nam Theatre Artists Association will be held on the same day with the aim of attracting audiences to the show.
World Theatre Day was launched in 1962 by the International Theatre Institute (ITI). The message of this year's Theatre Day is "Wherever there is a human society, the irrepressible Spirit of Performance will manifest," – famous words by playwright Bret Bailey.
This year, the Viet Nam Theatre Artists Association plans to organise a festival to promote cultural and art exchanges with the ITIs in China, Singapore and Laos and to strengthen ties with other ITI members.— VNS
