AS Rome postpone Asia Tour due to congested fixture schedule

AS Roma have postponed their Asia Tour this June, which included a friendly match with Viet Nam's national team, according to FIFA official agent Mae Mua.

A representative of AS Roma said the team had to cancel the Asian Tour due to changes in the schedule for the Italian Cup (Coppa Italia) semi-finals and the Italian team's need to prepare for the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil this summer.

"We received notice from AS Roma that they will have to play Inter Milan in the second leg of the Cup semi-finals on April 17, instead of January," Mae Mua said.

AS Roma, who beat Inter Milan 2-1 in the first leg of the semi-finals on January 24, will play a final match this June if they win or draw the match with Inter Milan, Mea Mua explained.

The American-Vietnamese agent, who works for the British sports marketing firm Strata in Viet Nam, said the Italian team would bring some players from AS Roma to the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Following an agreement between a representative of AS Roma and Strata signed in England last year, the Italian Series A team will play Viet Nam's team at Ha Noi's My Dinh Stadium on June 2 after two matches in China and Indonesia during the Asian Tour.

While a Spanish team, Valencia CF, sought to play in Viet Nam, it was too late to arrange this.-VNS
