JAKARTA — Datuk K Rajagobal's ASEAN All-Stars side lost 1-0 to the Indonesian national team in a charity fund-raising match held at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Sunday in Jakarta.

The Indonesians scored the only goal of the game in the 13th minute off a corner by Talaohu Abdul Mushafry.

The All-Stars, with three Vietnamese players, started strong with striker Le Cong Vinh and captain Mohamad Shahril Ishak of Malaysia leading the frontline. But with a rather disjointed midfield where understanding and co-ordination floundered, the Indonesian team did not take too long to assert their dominance.

In the 25th minute, a lob from Viet Nam's Nguyen Van Quyet narrowly missed the goal as Indonesia continued to pressure from the flanks. Zulham almost doubled Indonesia's lead just before the break, but his attempt was prevented by Mohd Aidil Zafuan Abdul Radzak.

The changes made for a handful of players disrupted the flow of the game in the second half as the ASEAN All-Stars pushed for the elusive equaliser.

All money collected from the match will be donated for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. — VNS
