Nguyen Van Lai won two gold medals in the men's 1,500m and 5,000m. While Nguyen Thi Oanh won a gold medal in the women's 400m hurdle, clocking in 55.75.
In addition, Oanh won a bronze medal in the women's 400m with a time of 55.75. The two first positions belonged to Sri Lanka athletes.
Bui Thi Xuan won a silver medal in the women's javelin throw with her result of 48.25m. The gold medal went to Thai Saowalak Pettong, 51.04m.
In the men's high jump, Tran Cong Phuoc won a bronze medal by managing to clear the bar at 2.04m. Chinese Taipei's Chun-Hsieng Hsiang and the Philippines Lasangue finished first and second, respectively.
Viet Nam sent an 11-member squad to compete in the four-day event, creating an opportunity for them to hone their skills for the Southeast Asian Games next year in Myanmar. — VNS
