HA NOI — The Viet Nam Professional Football Company (VPF) will acquire the broadcasting rights of the national football tournaments without a dollar paid from the 15th round, according to a commitment signed in a meeting yesterday.

The Audio Visual Global Company (AVG) agreed to concede its broadcasting rights on the condition that the VPF earn VND50 billion (nearly US$2.4 million) per year from 2013 to increase the revenue of Vietnamese football. The commitment maintains that the VPF be responsible for sharing the rights with Viet Nam Television and Viet Nam Television Corporation.

AVG chairman Pham Nhat Vu said that he agreed with VPF's plans but there was still something to consider before officially handing it over. He added the condition that the VPF earn a minimum of VND50 billion a year.

Attending the meeting, Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF) deputy chairman Le Hung Dung said that they would advocate this transfer if VPF carried out the commitment.

Doan Nguyen Duc, VPF deputy chairman, said: "The target of earning VND100 billion (nearly $4.8 million) or VND150 billion ($7.2 million) is set for 2013. It will increase to VND300 billion ($14.4 million) in the near future. VPF will get as much money as possible for Viet Nam football."

The 15th round is the first of the second leg of the V-League, with the First Division set to kick off this weekend. — VNS
