HA NOI (VNS) — Capital city authorities have announced they will invest VND23 billion (US$1.1million ) in 2015-16 to repair and upgrade the Ba Kieu Temple in Hoan Kiem District.
A representative of the Ha Noi People's Committee said the renovation aims to bring into full play the temple's role in people's daily life, apart from exemplifying the nation's culture and history,
He said the project is part of investments being made to preserve valuable cultural, historical and architectural monuments and other vestiges recognised as national relics.
Located on Dinh Tien Hoang Road, the temple was built during the reign of King Le Than Tong (1619-28) to worship Princess Lieu Hanh and the other two female deities Quynh Hoa and Que Hoa. It was recognised as national historical and cultural relic in 1994. — VNS
