HA NOI (VNS) — Brazilian Bangu Atletico Clube set up a final clash against defending champions, South Korean student squad in the Binh Duong Television Cup at HCM City.
Bangu Atletico on November 13 defeated hosts Becamex Binh Duong 3-1 in the second semi-final at the Thong Nhat Stadium.
Coach Dang Tran Chinh tested his new formation but it was not a good decision, as goalkeeper Quoc Thien Esele, making his debut, let through two goals in the seventh and 13th minutes.
The naturalised keeper could not stop the low shootouts in the box from Gabriel Carmo and Pinto Junior.
Becamex Binh Duong did a better job in the second half, but they could only manage to narrow down the margin with a solitary goal by striker Nguyen Anh Duc from a penalty, and a red card to midfielder Huynh Phu.
Bangu Atletico added another goal to their tally by Salatiel near the end.
In the earlier semi-final, South Korean students hammered Japanese students 3-0.
The final will be played on November 15 while the third-place playoff is between Becamex Binh Duong and the Japanese. — VNS
